IPS160HF and IPS161HF Single-Channel High-Side Switches

STMicroelectronics' IPS160HF and IPS161HF are monolithic devices that can drive capacitive, resistive, or inductive loads with one side connected to ground (high-side switch). The operating voltage is recommended in the range 8 V to 60 V, but the breakdown voltage on the supply pin can reach 65 V. The devices, thanks to the short propagation delay time at startup (<100 μ), address SIL (Safety Integrity Level) applications requirements for interface type C (or D) Class 3.

The only difference between the two devices, IPS160HF and IPS161HF, is the current limitation protection internal setting; all the remaining electrical parameters are equal. The output stage is an N-channel power MOSFET with a typical R_DS(ON) of 60 mΩ at ambient temperature, internally limited at 2.6 A minimum output current for IPS160HF and 0.7 A for IPS161HF.
