B72210M* and B72214M* Series Overvoltage Protection SMD Varistors

TDK Corporation overvoltage protection consists of the B72210M* and B72214M* SMD varistor series with a wide operating voltage range of 175 V_RMS to 460 V_RMS, corresponding to 225 V_DC to 615 V_DC. The B72210M* series surge devices (equivalent to the S14 leaded disk varistors) have a surge current capability of 6,000 A and the B72214M* series (equivalent to the S20 leaded disk varistors) have a high surge current capability of 10,000 A. These varistors are designed for a high operating temperature of +125°C (maximum) and an extremely damp heat environment of 85% relative humidity at +85°C.

The SMD high-surge series is qualified for AEC-Q200 and designed in horizontal and vertical versions for higher design flexibility. The horizontal version of the B72210M* series offers dimensions of 22 mm x 15 mm x 11 mm (L x W x H) and the B72214M* series offers dimensions of 27 mm x 18 mm x 11 mm (L x W x H). The vertical versions offer dimensions of 15 mm x 10 mm x 20 mm and 18 mm x 10 mm x 25.5 mm, respectively. This results in space savings in comparison to leaded varistors with the same performance.
