This kit showcases the Ti180’s hardened MIPI D-PHY (supporting up to 2.5 Gbps per lane) and hardened LPDDR4/4x controller to implement fast external FPGAs frame buffers.

This kit makes connecting to various camera modules very simple, as multiple daughter cards are included to connect to those camera modules. The kit includes a Raspberry Pi v2 camera that can stream video and store data in the development board’s 256 MBit LPDDR4X at up to 3.0 Gbps. The kit includes two additional daughter cards to allow more ecosystem camera module interoperability, the IMX477 camera connector daughter cards and the coral camera daughter card. The IMX477 daughter card complies with the 22-pin ribbon cables used with Arducam Raspberry Pi camera modules, and the coral camera daughter card is compatible with connecting to the coral camera. Those camera modules allow video data processing of 12.3 megapixel IMX477 sensors and 5 M pixels with the coral camera. IMX477 camera module and coral camera need to be purchased separately. The development kit also has two high-performance 256 Mb SPI NOR Flash chips so users can store additional data, such as RISC-V software. Ethernet and HDMI output daughter cards are included so users can process data in the FPGA and send it to a display or another system. The Ti180 development board also includes an FMC connector (FPGA mezzanine card) that allows connection to other IO cards in that FMC ecosystem. The FMC connector enables users to create a proof-of-concept system that most closely matches their needs.

All of these capabilities are included with what is currently the highest performance, lowest power, and smallest package FPGA solution. Users can register on the Efinix website to receive a login to download Efinity software for one year (including updates and upgrades). The software provides a complete tool flow from RTL design to bitstream generation.  Efinity includes synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, and a hardware debugger with a logic analyzer. It has a graphical user interface (GUI) that provides a visual way to set up projects, run the tool flow, view results, and implement the use of Efinix-provided IP, such as Sapphire RISCV SOC. Efinity also has a command-line flow and a TCL command console. The Efinity-generated bitstream file is used to configure the Titanium FPGA on the development board with an out-of-box or custom design that users can develop.
