The LT3011 is easily configured as a general-purpose, high V_IN to low V_OUT adjustable regulator, requiring only five small external components. It may be used in a keep-alive or real-time clock power supply for automotive applications. The LT3011 could also be useful in aircraft smoke detectors (as avionics has an 18V - 32V main voltage bus), weapons systems, motor controls, industrial modules, or automotive load dump.
