High or Low Temperature Environments
In may applications, a climate controlled environment may not be realistic so considerations for operating location and temperature may need to be reviewed. In the examples shown here, location may impact the required temperature rating. In Phoenix Arizona, the average yearly high temperature 47°C (116°F). A device may see even higher temperatures due to component temperature rise or solar gain which may easily exceed the 70°C maximum temperature of a fan. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the average yearly low of Anchorage Alaska reaches temperatures down as low as -22°C (-7°F). In both of these applications, the temperature will exceed the rated temperature range of a fan. Operation at either of these will have a negative impact on the fan life and reliability. If proper considerations are not taken, a fan in these conditions may have a shorter expected life or may be damaged.
