RF-IF Basics Slide 2
The unlicensed part 15 operating frequency range is where most of the applications NXP’s IF ICs can be implemented. The regulations and RF system requirements are found in the FCC (Federal Communication Commission), title 47; part 15. Unlicensed refers to the fact that the end user, the consumer, does not need to have an operator license to own or operate the products for these applications. Each country has its own controlling regulatory commission; many are similar or adopt the US FCC regulations in many frequency bands. Sample of unlicensed part 15 applications include: remote meter readers, keyless entry, wireless trackers, wireless keyboards, wireless local loops, police/fire radios, wireless receivers, garage door openers, optical readers, hearing aids, set top box (channel control), video applications, 902-928MHz cordless phones and data transceivers, wireless microphones. There are applications within Zigbee and UHF bands where NXP’s devices provide an excellent solution.
