The speaker cable is connected between the power amplifier and the speakers. The job of the speaker cable is to move a substantial amount of electrical energy from the output of a power amplifier to a speaker system.  Since the speaker is an electrical device, it has specific properties. One of the important electrical parameters of speakers is its impedance, which is typically 4, 8, or 16Ω. The impedance of the cable between the speaker and the amplifier turns some of the amplifier’s power into heat. This loss in signal results in decreased performance.
