RIIM Boards for Cloud-to-Sensor Prototype Network by RIIM™
Radiocrafts' boards make it easy to create a proof-of-concept RIIM sensor network with cloud connectivity
Radiocrafts' cloud-to-sensor prototype network by RIIM is designed for cloud developers who want to create an application using real sensor data rather than theoretical data. The RIIM boards are designed to make it easy for a user to create a proof-of-concept RIIM sensor network with cloud connectivity. These boards come pre-configured for sensor readings. The pre-loaded firmware configuration of the radio and/or sensor readings can be modified using the RIIM SDK. The RIIM network allows up to 1,000 sensor boards with a range of up to 200 meters between them. The network’s most simple configurations have users define the IP address of the cloud application and power up the boards. Once set up, the RIIM modules can be configured on the sensor boards to read any combination of sensors that are present on the boards. The cloud application can then access each sensor via CoAP over IPv4 and get real sensor data. The RIIM sensor network can be tested by modifying the user defined ICI application.
The RIIM boards include a sensor board, development board, and border router board. The sensor board comes populated with seven industry-standard sensors including temperature and humidity sensors, an analog light sensor, an accelerometer, a hall detector, an LED (controllable by the GPIO), and a VOC gas sensor. The development board is similar to the sensor board except it is populated with fewer sensors. The border router board has an IPv4 interface over Ethernet. It is configured as a border router which means you can access any sensor in the network and forward the data to your cloud application. The development and sensor boards can be configured as a mesh router or a leaf node. A mesh router can forward data to/from its parent nodes to its child nodes. It collects and forwards data to local sensors and actuators. They also serve to extend the network if needed. A leaf node collects and forwards data to/from local sensors and actuators to its parent node. It can be put to sleep for ultra-low power consumption (8 µA).
