Sysmac NX102 Controller

Omron's Sysmac NX102 machine controller allows users to jump into automation with a controller that is always in control

Image of Omron's Sysmac NX102 Controller Omron's NX102 controller gives companies seeking to reduce costs and shorten programming and implementation time a head start in automation. This controller has been designed to jump into automation and handle complete machine control. The NX102 achieves this with connectivity to globally open industrial protocols such as EtherNET I/P, EtherCAT®, IO-Link, and CIIP Safety. The NX102 machine controller decreases hardware and software scaling costs, as all NX Series controllers share the same I/O connections and can be programmed on Sysmac Studio software, allowing for easing scaling to line control with the NX502.

Features
  • Robust system architecture
    • Decreases the installation cost of additional safety controller with the integration of the Omron safety CPU, allowing the NX102 to accommodate up to 16 CIP safety connections
    • Decreases programming time and complexity with 5 MB of program memory, which allows function blocks to replicate robust code into various other rungs of programs for maximum scalability while decreasing the risk of stolen intellectual property and easy version control by locking function blocks
    • Decreases the installation cost and delayed refresh rates associated with managed switches for motion control with up to 64 secondaries and 8 axes of motion control on the deterministic, globally open industrial protocol and most globally used motion control industrial network EtherCAT
  • Machine performance
    • CPU can accommodate full machine control with:
      • Up to 8 axes of motion control
      • EtherCAT cycle times from 1 ms to 32 ms in 0.25 ms increments
      • 32 local I/O per CPU, 400 total I/O per CPU with remote NX I/O
      • 5 MB of program capacity
  • Data gathering
    • OPC UA and SQL are installed and standard on the NX502, addressing the challenges in the industry without a separate data transfer license
      • SQL as standard means no computer is needed on the plant floor to broker the data, so installation would not require IT
Applications
  • Automotive final assembly
  • Automotive material handling
  • Semiconductor wafer positioning
  • Semiconductor wafer inspection
  • Electronic assembly, including gluing and screwing
  • Packaging, including sealing and temperature control
  • Additional manufacturing, including powderbed fusion, water jetting, plasma cutting, material extrusion, and etching
  • IIoT factory automation
