MPFS-ICICLE-KIT-ES PolarFire® SoC FPGA Icicle Kit
Microchip’s low-cost development platform for five-core Linux® capable RISC-V microprocessors
The MPFS-ICICLE-KIT-ES PolarFire SoC Icicle kit from Microchip Technology is a low-cost development platform that enables evaluation of the five-core Linux capable RISC-V microprocessor subsystem, innovative Linux, real-time execution, and low-power capabilities. This kit has a rich set of peripherals of the PolarFire SoC FPGA. PolarFire SoC is ideally suited for secure, reliable, and power-efficient computing applications. A Libero Silver license is required with the PolarFire SoC Icicle kit to evaluate the user's designs. A Silver license is free and valid for one year. It supports single language simulation with programming and debug features. Generate a free Silver license here.
The Icicle kit features onboard memories (LPDDR4, QSPI™, and eMMC Flash) to run Linux off-the-shelf; a multi-rail power sensor to monitor various power domains; PCIe® root port, Raspberry Pi, and mikroBUS™ expansion ports and a host of wired connectivity options for quick prototyping and fast time to market. The MPFS-ICICLE-KIT-ES kit is suitable for a wide range of applications including imaging, AI/ML, industrial automation, IoT, wireline access networks, aerospace, defense, and automotive.
Polarfire featuring Vectorblox™ (enables AI/ML functionality): The VectorBlox accelerator software development kit (SDK) enables the design of low-power, small-form-factor AI/ML applications on Microchip’s PolarFire field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). FPGAs are well-suited for edge AI applications, including inferencing in power-constrained compute environments. This is because FPGAs can process more operations per second with increased power efficiency than central processing units (CPUs) or graphics processing units (GPUs). Designers can implement their algorithms on PolarFire FPGAs to meet the growing demand for power-efficient inferencing in edge applications. What’s more, PolarFire FPGAs do not require prior FPGA design experience. Microchip’s VectorBlox accelerator SDK is designed to enable developers to code in C/C++ and program power-efficient neural networks.
