Image of Vybronics' VL-Series Linear Vibration MotorsDue to their fast rise and fall times and superior braking ability, Vybronics' linear resonant actuators (LRA) vibration motors are an excellent choice for applications requiring haptic feedback. These linear vibration motors have a relatively simple internal construction with high reliability and exceptionally long life when compared with brushed ERM vibration motors. Vybronics' LRA has an internal mass that oscillates back and forth along the X-axis, which in turn generates a vibrational force. For maximum efficiency and performance, these devices must be driven at the device's resonant frequency. The AC drive signal is typically supplied by a haptic driver IC. Custom wire leads, FPCs, PORON foam pads, connectors, and PSA are also available.

Of note is the VL91022-160-320H, which is a dual-frequency LRA that produces 3 GRMS of vibration force. Its unique internal construction allows it to be driven at either 160 Hz or 320 Hz while generating a G force in two different planes. This opens up the possibility for unique haptic feedback effects.
