Capacitor Portfolio
Capacitors are electronic components that store and release electrical energy in a circuit. They are passive two-terminal devices consisting of two conductive plates separated by an insulating material called a dielectric. When a voltage is applied across the terminals, an electric field is created, causing positive and negative charges to accumulate on the plates.
Eaton offers various capacitor technologies including film capacitors and supercapacitors. Film capacitors are designed for electric vehicles, charging stations, renewable energy, motor drives, UPS and consumer applications. They are known for their stability and low tolerance. Supercapacitors are used for energy storage in applications where rapid charge/discharge cycles and high-power density are crucial. They are used in vehicles, smart meters, and as backup power sources for hundreds of types of devices.
Capacitors play a vital role in various electronic circuits, providing energy storage, peak power, smoothing voltage fluctuations, filtering signals, and facilitating the proper functioning of electronic devices and large power systems.Several Eaton capacitor families are AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive applications.
