Connecting Smart Cities

When hearing the term “smart city”, one can envision multiple facets and citizen needs that it could touch; energy, transportation, planning, environment, and many more. Regardless of the focus area, we can all agree that the implementation of solutions to meet these needs requires a wide variety of products. Sensors, antennas, connectors, and cables are just a few of the potential components needed. Hours of design time go into reviewing what components may be needed for smart city applications to address short-term and long-term citizen needs. TE Connectivity works hard to make that design time faster and more efficient by providing great products and reference materials to fill out component needs. These parts can be utilized in anything from smart lights, utility monitoring, smart traffic lights, and so many more cases.

Antennas

Antennas can be modeled around Bluetooth, Cellular, GNSS, or Wi-Fi networks and TE addresses them all with their product range. They come in a wide variety of types. They have blade, chip, dome, puck, and many, many more.

Cables and connectors

Cables and connectors are not to be forgotten as we work to make our cities fit the growing consumer’s needs for connectivity and technology. TE offers a large number of different cables and connectors that can be utilized in many different gauges as well as lengths. Mating connectors are a priority in terms of TE’s product design and problems can arise quickly without addressing that focus area.
