It is important to understand that SiTime’s 32kHz solutions do not require V-d-d bypass capacitors. This may be counterintuitive to designers, but SiTime’s parts already include the bypass capacitance internal to the chip. The results shown here illustrate the power supply noise rejection, measured as a change in frequency from the initial tolerance. A 300mV peak-to-peak sinusoidal noise with a frequency sweep from 1kHz to 10MHz was injected onto the device’s V-d-d supply, and the change in frequency stability was measured. As the plot illustrates, the device’s power supply noise rejection is very robust and an external bypass capacitor is not needed, thus preserving the small, 1.2mm² footprint.
