With Panasonic’s in-house designed controller, the engineers aim to have zero defects in the product that may affect the end customer. In terms of performance, the engineer can tune the cards to a specific customer’s use case. With the help of the engineering staff, they can recommend different write access patterns to achieve a specific lifetime. The engineer also has an option available for pseudo SLC mode that will increase write cycles by a factor of 10. Upon request, Panasonic has the ability to partition eMMC cards before they are sent out. This may be helpful for certain applications that require an area of the card used for system data, log data, and maybe some map data, if used in a GPS system.
