In most applications, it is not just about being either on or off - there are different modes of use. Shown here is an example of the power consumption of a smartwatch. There are parts of the day where the user is directly interacting with the watch, other times where the watch is not being used at all, and then there are also times where the watch is collecting data, such as steps. Average power for the application is the area under the curve. In order to effectively optimize power, the power consumption for all of the various modes must be optimized. The i.MX 7ULP enables such power optimizations.
