Surveillance-Slide16

The images shown on this slide compare an industry-leading VGA (640x480) WDR camera to the processing that Apical (acquired by Arm®) and Intel® are achieving today using a next-generation HD WDR sensor with Apical’s (acquired by Arm®) WDR ISP in the Cyclone® III device. Notice that the next generation WDR sensors are available in resolutions far beyond VGA. Leading sensor providers are producing 720p60 and 1080p60 WDR CMOS image sensors. The dynamic range is improved, it is possible to see the light bulb and color chart in the shadowbox in the market leader’s image, but in the Apical (acquired by Arm®)/Intel® image, one can actually see the filament in the light bulb and the color chart in the shadow box as well. Also, color processing is superior, note the saturation of colors in the balls of yarn and the skin tone difference between the two images. The bottom line is the Intel®/Apical (acquired by Arm®) HD WDR CMOS image processing solution implemented on the Intel® Cyclone® III platform today is superior to what is available currently on the market. Intel® believes that HD WDR CMOS image sensors, bundled with processing from Apical (acquired by Arm®) and platforms from Intel® will create an inflection point in the surveillance and automotive markets.
