Medium Voltage MOSFETs for Industrial Applications
Vishay’s latest technology platforms TrenchFET® Gen IV and ThunderFET® offer excellent RDS(ON)-Qg figure of merit
Vishay's rugged portfolio elevates the performance of power regulation designs in a broad range of markets. It goes beyond plug to processor and turns natural energy sources such as sun light into electricity to enrich our lives. These products, along with the E-series Super-Junction MOSFETs, sense resistors, and the passive products in the Vishay portfolio, provide backbones to various mission-critical designs and ensure a stable power delivery.
- RDS(on) is lowered by 35% to 60% from the previous generation while charge-balanced architecture reduces Qg 10% to 30% to improve efficiency and reduce power loss
- Allows more current output per device due to the reduction of conduction loss through I2R
- Increases the power density of designs by either delivering more power output per device or reducing components needed in parallel
- Potential for lower temperature improves end design reliability in switching applications
- Conventional TO-220 and D2PAK package options, including 7-lead D2PAK
- High-performance D2PAK-7-lead in 100 V (SUM70040M) increases the contact area to the PCB in order to handle high-current designs for various industrial applications
- Qgd/Qgs < 1 and lower Qgd enhances immunity to shoot-through
- The fine tuned Qgd/Qgs ratio enhances switching characteristics
- The time requirement to pass through Miller plateau voltage is shorter, hinting faster turning on and off
- Optimized AC characteristics potentially elevate switch-mode power supply efficiency where used as synchronous rectifiers
- 175°C rated maximum junction temperature
Applications
These products convert natural raw energy to power from plug to processors, covering the classic industrial applications powering from 24 V to 72 V inputs such as:
- AC-DC adapters
- DC-DC converters (isolated topologies)
- Synchronous rectification in ATX power supplies
- Motor drive control
- Power tools
- Inverters
- Solar micro inverters
- OR-ing in redundant power architecture for telecommunication equipment and servers
- Circuit and reverse polarity protection for 24 V to 48 V battery
- Battery and load switching in battery management modules
- Class-D amplifiers using half or full bridge topologies
