LARA-R6 Series LTE Cat 1 Modules

u-blox's LARA-R6 series cellular modules feature uncompromised global connectivity in a very small package. The series offers exceptional flexibility with global, regional, and multi-regional variants.

The LARA-R6 modules are secure by design and have a comprehensive certification scheme, versatile interfaces, and multi-band and multi-mode capabilities. These make the LARA-R6 ideal for use in a broad range of applications, including telematics, tracking, digital health, alarm panels, metering, and point-of-sale applications.

The LARA-R6 Series are robust modules supporting LTE Cat 1 FDD and LTE Cat 1 TDD radio access technology with 3G UMTS/HSPA and 2G GSM/GPRS/EGPRS fallback. They provide a superb global and multi-regional coverage solution in the small LARA LGA form factor (26.0 mm x 24.0 mm, 100-pin).

All voice+data modules in the series support receive diversity for reliable performance in difficult coverage conditions or those that require voice functionality via VoLTE. Customers can take advantage of embedded IoT protocols (LwM2M, MQTT) and security features (TLS/DTLS, secure update/secure boot) to implement various applications, including device management, remote device actions, and secure FOTA updates.

With five variants, you can minimize development efforts:

• The LARA-R6001 (data and voice) and LARA-R6001D (data-only) solutions provide global coverage.
• The LARA-R6401, which provides an ideal LTE Cat 1 solution for North America, supports all relevant LTE bands, and operates on AT&T, Verizon, FirstNet, or T-Mobile.
• The LARA-R6401D (data-only) module is designed primarily for North America, offering customers flexibility in their designs.
• LARA-R6801 is a multi-regional variant specifically designed for use in EMEA/APAC/Japan and LATAM regions, supporting all relevant LTE bands and technologies.

Evaluation kits (EVK’s) and adaptor boards (ADP’s) are available for each version; the EVK-R6001-00B is for global applications, the EVK-R6401-00B for North America, and the EVK-R6801-00B for EMEA/APAC/JP/LATAM. Each evaluation kit includes: an evaluation board with a LARA-R6 series LTE Cat 1 module and a u‑blox GNSS module; USB cable; 2 cellular LTE antennas; a GPS/GLONASS antenna; and power adapter. Adaptor boards for each – voice + date or data only – are available for added flexibility in testing.
