Image of U-blox's C102-F9R Application BoardThe u-blox C102-F9R application board can be used to evaluate and test the high precision sensor fusion positioning technology of the u-blox ZED-F9R module. The built-in USB interface delivers both a power supply and a high-speed communications interface. The device is compact and provides a flexible and user-friendly interface between the GNSS module and test vehicles. It can also be used with a notebook or PC running the GUI-driven u-center application, making the perfect companion through all evaluation stages and design-in phases of projects.

The u-center evaluation software provides a powerful platform for evaluating u-blox GNSS receivers. With u-center, data can be logged and visualized in real time. The u-center software contains an NTRIP client that can be used to manage the RTCM correction stream from commercial services. A 14-pin header provides access to additional functions beyond those depicted in the block diagram, such as the use of an external power supply, access to a microcontroller for the update of its firmware, and access to the UART2 of ZED-F9R.

The ZED-F9R module has an integrated inertial measurement unit (IMU) for real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning. The sophisticated built-in algorithms fuse the IMU data, GNSS measurements, wheel ticks, correction data, and a vehicle dynamics model to provide optimal positioning accuracy where GNSS alone would fail. The device is a turnkey self-contained solution that provides the best possible performance; no latencies or similar system considerations to worry about. This eliminates the technical risk and effort of selecting and integrating RF components and third-party libraries such as precise positioning engines.
