Texas Instruments' CC3235x dual-band wireless microcontroller (MCU) device comes in two variants: the CC3235S and the C3235SF. The CC3235S offers 256 KB of RAM, IoT networking security, device identity/keys, and MCU-level security features such as file system encryption, user IP (MCU image) encryption, secure boot, and debug security. The CC3235SF builds on the CC3235S by integrating a user-dedicated 1 MB of executable Flash in addition to the 256 KB of RAM.
The SimpleLink Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ CC3235x MCU family is a dual-band, wireless system-on-chip (SoC) solution that can simplify a user's design by integrating two processors within a single chip. The Arm® Cortex®-M4 MCU application processor offers user-dedicated 256 KB of RAM and an optional 1 MB of executable Flash. The network processor runs Wi-Fi and internet logical layers. This ROM-based subsystem offloads the host MCU and includes an 802.11 a/b/g/n dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio, a baseband, and a MAC with a powerful hardware cryptography engine.
These MCU devices offer capabilities that simplify the connectivity of things to the internet. These capabilities include 802.11a (5 GHz support), BLE/2.4 GHz radio coexistence, antenna selection, enhanced security, concurrent secure sockets (up to sixteen), certificate sign request (CSR), online certificate status protocol (OCSP), improved fast scan, and hostless mode for offloading template packet transmissions.
The CC3235x devices are part of the SimpleLink MCU platform. This common, easy-to-use development environment is based on a single-core software development kit (SDK) and features a rich toolset and reference designs.
