STEVAL-PDETECT1 Add-On Evaluation Kit

The STMicroelectronics STEVAL-PDETECT1 is an add-on evaluation kit for the STWIN.box designed for human presence applications. It supports low-power operations, ensures user privacy, and minimizes false triggers through multisensor modalities. Up to three add-on boards can be used simultaneously in a daisy-chain configuration.

The kit includes three sensors – STHS34PF80, VL53L8CX, and VD6283TX. The STHS34PF80 measures IR radiation from objects within its field of view. The ASIC processes this information digitally, monitoring motion, presence, or overtemperature conditions. VL53L8CX is a multizone (4x4 or 8x8) time of flight (ToF) ranging sensor with enhanced performance under ambient light and reduced power consumption. It provides accurate ranging up to 400 cm with a 65° diagonal field of view (FoV) based on STMicroelectronics’ FlightSense™ technology. VD6283TX is a compact color sensor (1.83 mm x 1.0 mm x 0.55 mm) with advanced light flicker extraction. It offers fast and accurate light measurement with individual ADCs and readouts for each color channel. The VD6283TX uses hybrid color filters for precise computation of correlated color temperature (CCT) and lux information, suitable for display brightness management or scene light correction.
