Image of Skyworks Solutions' Bluetooth Low Energy Front-End ModuleSkyworks' SKY66114-11, is a fully integrated RF front-end module designed for Bluetooth Low Energy, 802.15.4, and Zigbee applications. This device integrates a high-gain LNA and high-efficiency saturated PA, along with digital controls compatible with 1.6 V to 3.6 V CMOS levels. The SKY66114-11 is designed to increase the RF output of a SoC radio while reducing the overall current consumption making it perfect for Internet of Things (IoT) applications where longer battery life is needed. The SKY66114-11 is also crucial for increasing the range of a Bluetooth device by extending range more than 4x compared to a standalone SoC solution and has up to 7 dB sensitivity improvement compared to a standalone SoC. The SKY66114-11 FEM has been designed into reference designs with products from Silicon Labs, NXP, and Texas Instruments.

  • Integrated LNA with 12 dB gain
  • Integrated switch selects between PA, LNA, and bypass functions
  • Low noise figure: 2 dB (typ.)
  • Small MCM (16-pin, 2.4 mm x 2.4 mm x 0.7 mm) package, NiPdAu-plated (MSL3, 260°C per JEDEC-J-STD-020)
  • Fast switch ON/OFF time: < 800 ns
  • Supply range: 1.8 V to 3.6 V
  • Sleep mode current: < 1 µA (typ.)
  • No external bias resistor is required
  • Single-ended transmit/receive interface
