The Si838x features bipolar input flexibility to accommodate sinking or sourcing inputs with no power supply required on the field side, 2.25 VDD low-power processor interface to the controller, and high-speed capability up to 2 Mbps for servo motor control. The Si838x is the industry’s first high-speed, multi-channel digital isolators designed for programmable logic controller (PLC) applications requiring high-speed channels (up to 2 Mbps), channel integration (up to eight channels per device), bipolar input flexibility, high noise immunity (50 kV/µs CMTI typical), and 2.5 kV RMS safety isolation. The Si838x family provides a robust solution for PLC applications including industrial I/O modules, computer numerical control (CNC) machines and servo motor control. The Si838x isolators feature a flexible bipolar input capability that gives developers a choice of sinking or sourcing inputs. The controller interface can be eight parallel channels or a four-port SPI. Si88xx family of products combine high-speed digital isolators with an isolated power supply. This integrated product for signal and power isolation provides a complete isolation solution to designers. The Si88xx has up to four high-speed digital isolation channels integrated with a modified fly-back topology based DC-DC converter. The DC-DC converter works in conjunction with an external transformer to provide up to 2 W of isolated power that can be used to supply the secondary side of the Si88xx as well as drive other circuits on the isolated side. The new Si828x ISOdriver family provides industrial-grade isolation (5 kV RMS withstand), best-in-class feature integration including an optional DC-DC converter, the industry’s fastest desaturation detection, superior timing characteristics, and exceptional noise and transient immunity. The defining Si828x feature is a 4 amp gate driver coupled with desaturation detection to monitor the IGBT for over-current.
