ScioSense’s AS6031 enables compact designs and minimized BOM for modern ultrasonic flow conversion applications

Image of ScioSense’s AS6031 Ultrasonic Flow ConvertersThe AS6031 builds on ScioSense’s successful TDC-GP30 platform, enabling next generation ultrasonic flow converters for water and heat meters. Time-of-flight (ToF) information is extracted by the proven high-performance front-end that is driving the transducers and processing the receive signal. In addition, a programmable gain amplifier allows handling weaker receive amplitudes while a phase modulation provides even more robustness to the first hit level detection of the system.

The integrated low-power CPU combines complex flow calculation with the precise measurement front-end, providing outstanding low-flow detection capability down to leakage levels. Users can process the data through SPI with an external microcontroller or use the integrated standard pulse interface. The ultra-low power consumption enables battery-operated devices with years of lifetime. With all the integrated features and a QFN48 package, the AS6031 enables compact designs and a minimized overall BOM for modern ultrasonic flow conversion applications.

The AS6031F1 comes with a protected flow firmware from ScioSense programmed into the NVRAM. These algorithms, together with appropriate calibration and operation parameters, allow the chip to perform complete flow and volume calculation as well as error handling.
