With the rising need for real-time recognition applications using AI, developers are facing challenges with the increasing power consumption and heat dissipation required for AI processing.

The RZ/V2L operates with low power consumption by leveraging the high power efficiency of the DRP-AI, eliminating the need for heat dissipation measures such as heatsinks and cooling fans. This contributes to the downsizing of equipment and cost reduction of the entire system. The highly flexible DRP-AI enables the RZ/V2L to support AI and various image processing uses. The DRP can perform color correction and noise reduction of input / output images, making it possible to use an inexpensive camera module without an image processing function. This contributes to the overall cost reduction of the entire system. The RZ/V2L is pin-compatible with the RZ/G2L general-purpose MPU, providing upward functional compatibility and making it easy to build a product lineup with or without AI functions in the same system configuration. The RZ/V2L is equipped with 3D graphics and video codecs, and supports GUI rendering.

The RZ/V2M is an application-specific standard product for vision AI and is equipped with the DRP-AI accelerator, making it upward compatible with the RZ/V2L in terms of performance. The RZ/V2M features up to 4K camera input and hardware ISP that can adapt to vision AI applications with a single chip.

Renesas also provides power supply and clocking solutions that are optimized for these devices so customers can develop a system using the RZ/V2L in a short time.
