RX660 Series 120 MHz 32-Bit MCU
Renesas' high-performance MCU family has improved noise immunity for consumer electronics and industrial applications
Renesas' RX660 is the first 5 V MCU in the RX600/700 high-end general-purpose microcontrollers family, developed as a successor to the RX210. RX660 has a lineup ranging from 48-pin to144-pin, 512 kB to 1 MB memory, and is pin-compatible with RX210 so that current boards can be used without circuit modification. For the first time among MCUs with 100 MHz or higher frequency, the accuracy of the built-in oscillator is guaranteed to be ±1%, allowing customers to remove the external oscillator with peace of mind.
System control of home appliances requires model development for each region as customers expand their operations globally, increasing development and management worker hours. To reduce costs, companies are accelerating the use of common development platforms. As a result, the data capacity of software is increasing due to the increase of redundant data, real-time OS, OTA support, and others, and the required size of ROM and RAM of microcontrollers is increasing year by year. The RX660 is equipped with 1 MB of ROM and 128 KB of RAM to adequately handle any future increase in data. This product is also the first in the RX series to incorporate a CAN FD (CAN with Flexible Data Rate) controller. The CAN automotive network standard is widely used in industrial equipment and e-bikes due to its performance and reliability. However, due to the increase in performance and complexity of system control, the number of connected devices and the volume of communication data has increased, and there is a growing need for CAN-FD, which can transmit data at higher speeds and larger volumes. Since it is backward compatible with current CAN communications, it can be updated with only minor changes to the current system.
