Piano Series Power Supplies

PULS has expanded the Piano product family to offer a total of nine DIN rail power supplies from 36 W to 480 W at 24 V_DC. An additional two models are rated 60 W at 12 V_DC. Six models are NEC Class 2 compliant as a limited power source. For 48 V_DC applications, PULS offers a 480 W model with an adjustable output voltage of 48 V_DC to 56 V_DC. All models offer exceptional power density and reduced width, allowing system designers to save space in the control enclosure to allow more flexible planning. The Piano Mini (PIM) power supplies range from 36 W to 90 W, and the Piano (PIC) series are offered in 120 W, 240 W, and 480 W. A redundancy module is also offered for 120 W to 480 W applications requiring additional reliability.

The most important characteristic of the PIM and PIC power supplies is the focus on the core features of a power supply: efficiency, lifetime, reliability, and size. The internal demand for the highest PULS quality standard for each of these features is maintained for all Piano series units. An example is the high efficiency of 91.8% (PIM60) and 95.7% (PIC480.241D) at full load and +40°C ambient temperature. This means lower heat loss, making the power supplies more durable and reducing costs for system cooling. The long lifetime of the components used in the PIM and PIC power supplies reduces replacement costs and provides the lowest total cost of ownership for designs.

The 60 W and 90 W units allow users the choice of push-in or screw terminals. The push-in terminals reduce installation time, are optimized for automated wiring, and are very reliable in environments prone to shock and vibration. In addition, these push-in terminal units fulfill the safety and EMC requirements of Class II protection without an input PE connection. The screw terminals that accommodate large diameter wires are still popular in environments with minimal shock and vibration. The PULS Piano family provides an extensive, cost-oriented product in the 36 W to 480 W power range.
