The S08P family is powerfully simple and offers exceptional EFT/ESD performance. This scalable and pin-compatible MCU family reuses the existing S08 core, IP, and tools for easy migration from existing 8-bit S08 products. The S08P MCUs also integrate key features like touch sensing interface (TSI), EEPROM, and motor control flex timer to simplify design and help reduce system cost.

The S08PB MCUs offer the features of the S08P and add traits like 12-bit ADC, analog comparator, amplifier, I2C, and flexible timers to simplify design and help reduce system cost.

The S08PB16-EVK is a cost-effective development hardware for the NXP S08PB and S08PLS 5 V 8-bit MCUs. The board is small, yet powerful, with rich integrated peripherals to evaluate all features of S08PB and S08PLS MCUs. Free sample code is provided for users' reference.

  • 8-bit S08 central processor unit (CPU) with up to 20 MHz core and bus speed
  • Memory combination of up to 16 KB Flash and up to 1 KB RAM
  • Clocks
    • Oscillator (XOSC): support crystal or ceramic resonator range of 31.25 kHz to 39.0625 kHz or 4 MHz to 20 MHz
    • Internal clock source (ICS): precision trimming allows 0.2% resolution; 1% deviation across temperature range of 0°C to +70°C, 1.5% deviation across temperature range of -40°C to +105°C and 2% deviation across temperature range of -40°C to +125°C
  • System protection
    • Watchdog with independent clock source
    • Low-voltage detection with reset or interrupt; selectable trip points
    • Illegal opcode detection with reset
    • Illegal address detection with reset

    • Onboard debugger (OSBDM) with a virtual serial port, support flash program and run control debug without an external debugger
    • ArduinoĀ® compatible header for user extension, support connecting with FRDM-MC-LVBLDC board for motor control development

    • 12-channel, 12-bit resolution ADC with 2.5 Ī¼s conversion time
    • Two flex timer modulators (FTM) including one 6-channel (FTM2) and one 2-channel (FTM0) backward compatible with TPM modules
    • Fault detection scheme (FDS) shut down output pin upon fault detection
    • Two modulo timer (MTIM) with 8-bit prescaler and overflow interrupt
    • One pulse width timer (PWT) used to capture a pulse width and pulse period
    • One serial communications interface (SCI/UART) module optional 13-bit break
    • One inter-integrated circuit (I2C) module; up to 400 kbps; supporting SMBUS
    • Two analog comparators (ACMP) with both positive and negative inputs
    • One analog operational amplifier (OPAMP) with fixed gain x20, supporting up to 100 mV single-ended input
    • 16-bit real-time counter (RTC)
    • Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) with programmable 16-bit/32-bit polynomial generator
    • Up to 8 keyboard interrupt (KBI) inputs
  • Power-saving modes; one 1.2 Ī¼A low-power stop mode; reduced power wait mode

  • Up to 18 GPIOs; one 8-bit keyboard interrupt module (KBI); and one true open-drain output pin (PTB0)
