i.MX 93 Applications Processors

NXP i.MX 93 applications processors deliver efficient machine learning (ML) acceleration and advanced security with integrated EdgeLock® secure enclave to support energy-efficient edge computing.

The i.MX 93 applications processors are the first in the i.MX portfolio to integrate the scalable Arm® Cortex®-A55 core, bringing performance and energy efficiency to Linux®-based edge applications and the Arm Ethos™-U65 microNPU while also enabling developers to create more capable, cost-effective, and energy-efficient ML applications.

Optimizing performance and power efficiency for Industrial, IoT, and automotive devices, i.MX 93 processors are built with NXP’s innovative Energy Flex architecture. The SoCs offer a rich set of peripherals targeting automotive, industrial, and consumer IoT market segments.

The FRDM-IMX93 development board is a low-cost and compact development board featuring the i.MX 93 applications processor. This FRDM i.MX 93 development board is the first FRDM development board with i.MX MPUs and includes an onboard PMIC and IW612 module featuring NXP WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities. The board is ideal for developing modern industrial and IoT applications. This board includes an HDMI display interface, LPDDR4/LPDDR4X, eMMC storage for quick boot times, PMIC, and expansion capabilities. The FRDM i.MX 93 development board supports GoPoint for i.MX applications processors which accelerates the time-to-market by providing comprehensive demos for a variety of use cases.

The i.MX 93 quick-start evaluation kit provides a low-cost platform to evaluate the i.MX 93 applications processors in a 9 mm x 9 mm package. The single-board solution consists of the i.MX 93 SoC (9 mm x 9 mm package), LPDDR4/LPDDR4X, eMMC, and PMIC, bringing out the broad connectivity that is needed for product evaluation. This kit provides an excellent starting point by providing a low-cost reference board design to accelerate time to market.

The i.MX 93 family offers an intelligent and secure edge processor for entry-level IoT applications with key features including:

• EdgeLock Secure Enclave subsystem to provide necessary security functions and a dedicated NPU for efficient processing for machine learning applications in next-generation IoT market products
• Heterogenous processing on A55 cores along with the M33 core (can boot from either core) with energy flex architecture for entry/mid-tier IoT applications that require high performance and low power
• Efficient Vision pipeline including MIPI-CSI interface along with 2x A55 and NPU to achieve sub-$10 vision applications across industrial, consumer IoT, and automotive edge computing markets
