i.MX 91 Series Applications Processors
NXP energy-efficient applications processors bring essential Linux® capabilities for thousands of Edge applications
NXP i.MX 91 series applications processors enable the rapid creation of Linux-based Edge devices, such as smart home controllers, connected appliances, home entertainment, industrial, and medical platforms. Emerging protocols, such as Matter® for the smart home or the ISO 15118-20 standard for electric vehicle (EV) chargers, create inflection points for product categories across IoT and industrial markets.
Next-generation Linux-based devices based on the i.MX 91 SoC will be high-performance, affordable, secure solutions, enabling adaptation to updated protocols or new standards as they are introduced. The i.MX 91 SoC integrated EdgeLock® secure enclave provides security features including lifecycle management, tamper detection, secure boot, and a simplified path to certifications.
The i.MX 91 family features an Arm® Cortex®-A55 running at up to 1.4 GHz, support for modern LPDDR4 memory to enable platform longevity, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and dual USB ports, along with a rich set of peripherals targeting medical, industrial, and consumer IoT market segments.
Part of the EdgeVerse™ portfolio of intelligent edge solutions, the i.MX 91 series is offered with commercial and industrial qualifications and backed by the NXP product longevity program.
The i.MX 91 EVK provides a platform for comprehensive evaluation of the i.MX 91 applications processors and also includes the ability to measure power consumption on the power rails.
The kit includes two interconnected boards:
- A compute module (standard six-layer technology) containing a superset i.MX 91 SoC, 2 GB LPDDR4, 16 GB eMMC, NXP PMIC (PCA9451A), and power monitoring circuits
- A connectivity baseboard that includes a standard M.2 KEY-E slot for plugging in off-the-shelf connectivity modules, such as Wi-Fi/Bluetooth modules from NXP partners
The Linux-based board support package software is preloaded to boot from the compute module eMMC memory. This includes a rich GoPoint application to explore preinstalled demos. This kit provides an excellent starting point to accelerate designs.
