CompactDAQ Temperature Measurement Bundles

NI's CompactDAQ hardware bundles for temperature sensors help reduce setup time and have built-in signal conditioning

Image of NI's Temperature Measurement SystemNI’s CompactDAQ temperature measurement bundle simplifies connecting thermocouples to a PC. The measurement bundle includes sensor-specific C series modules for data acquisition and a CompactDAQ USB chassis.

Validation and production engineers test dozens of units for each new design, work through retests, and characterize performance to inform datasheets and ensure electronic designs function correctly in a range of temperatures. Flexibility is key if users want to manage design updates and requests with a single test system.

The C series temperature input modules have either direct bare-wire sensor connections or mini-thermocouple connection jacks and are designed with thermocouples in mind. They have built-in cold junction compensation (CJC) for improved accuracy and are great for thermal chamber soaking tests, validating heat transfer simulations, monitoring power dissipation on electronic designs, and more.

The CompactDAQ USB chassis has plug-and-play simplicity of USB to sensor and electrical measurements and provides timing, synchronization, and triggering. The one-slot CompactDAQ chassis is perfect for a simple and portable test system. Upgrade test systems for more flexibility with the four-slot CompactDAQ chassis and have expandability with 32 channels for applications that need several test points in a small space. Add more C series modules for adaptable and flexible test hardware.

Complete the bundle with a compatible thermocouple sensor and with NI's no-code data acquisition software FlexLogger to quickly configure sensors and I/O, set up triggers and alarms, create a custom user interface, and download example projects to get started faster. The temperature measurement system is also compatible with LabVIEW, Python, and C/C++. Add more channels or different sensors in the future as needs change. Save time with each new setup by reusing the same software.

Bundle Considerations
  • How many sensors do you need to connect per test? Consider the channel counts of the total bundle
  • How many different measurements do you need during a test sequence? If just one is needed (and will not need to expand in the future) consider choosing the one-slot bundle options. If more flexibility in the future or different sensor measurements are needed, consider the four-slot bundle, and purchase other C series modules for a test system
Sensor Connectivity

Bundles have options based on how users can connect sensors (connection type)
