MAX14915 Octal High-Side Switch with Diagnostics

Analog Devices' MAX14915 has eight high-side switches that are specified to deliver up to 700 mA continuous current. The high-side switches have an on-resistance of 250 mΩ (max) at +125°C ambient temperature. The SPI interface has a built-in chip-addressing decoder, allowing communication with multiple MAX14915s utilizing a common SPI chip select.

Many fault conditions in digital I/O systems need to be protected against voltage, current, and temperature. Discrete or only partly integrated solutions require many components to achieve this protection and take up lots of space. Analog Devices' integrated circuit solution eliminates the need for these external components with highly accurate current limiting to reduce power consumption. Analog Devices' DIO ICs are also configurable and can transmit at fast data-rates.

The SPI interface provides flexibility for global and per-channel configuration and diagnostics including overvoltage and undervoltage detection, open-wire/load detection, overload and current limiting reporting, thermal conditions reporting, and more.

Open load detection detects both open-wire/open-load conditions with switches in the on and off states. LED drivers provide indications of per-channel fault, status, and supply undervoltage conditions. Internal active clamps allow for fast turn-off of inductive loads.

The MAX14915 is available in a compact 48-pin 6 mm x 6 mm QFN package.
