Miniature Speaker Series of Audible Alarms

Mallory introduces another audible device with the Miniature Speaker Series. This new product line was developed to help design engineers reach sound levels that are not normally achievable with standard piezo electric alarms.

The heart of the Mallory Miniature Speaker is a Mylar® speaker diaphragm. Among other advantages, the Mylar® speaker is water- and fluid-resistant, which makes it ideal for outdoor, medical, and humid applications. In fact, one of the more unusual applications of this product family is for use in hunting. In this case the speaker would be used to mimic certain animal sounds.

One distinct advantage of the Miniature Speakers is that they can achieve lower frequency ratings than those of standard piezoelectric alarms, including frequency ratings of less than 2 kHz. This is an advantage in products designed for older consumers because higher frequency hearing capability tends to diminish with age. Designers are also finding that the use of lower frequency audible signals creates a way to provide distinguishable sound in various products.
