iSYS-4004 K-Band Distance Measurement System

InnoSenT's iSYS-4004 is a K-band distance measurement system for stationary and moving objects. One of the main applications is level probing.

The system is based on MMIC technology, which offers stable measurement capability over the given temperature limits. The detection range is from 1.1 m (3.6 ft) to 35 m (115 ft) depending on the RCS of the target and the applied bandwidth. The iSYS-4004 offers two different bandwidths to ensure compliance with regulations.

The bandwidth has an impact on the resolution as well as on the accuracy. In order to meet EU regulations, the bandwidth is limited to 250 MHz, which specifies an accuracy of ±3cm and comes with a detection area from 1.1 m to 35 m. US, UK, and French regulations ask for a bandwidth of 100 MHz, which results in measuring distance from 2.7 m to 35 m with an accuracy of ±7.5 cm.

The FMCW radar is equipped with a µC processing unit and provides three programmable outputs that offer a wide area of individual configurations (target filters).

The programming can be easily done via the InnoSenT GUI. All settings can be saved on the integrated EEPROM. Thanks to the robust metal housing for outdoor use, it can be used even in harsh environments.

To measure the speed, distance, and direction of moving objects, InnoSenT also offers an FSK product variant for motion detection. The iSYS-4001 detects moving objects to provide reliable velocity and direction information.
