Infineon's evaluation boards are ideal for battery-supplied BLDC motor control applications

Image of Infineon's Three-phase Gate Driver Evaluation BoardsInfineon has developed two boards for the design-in process of battery-powered BLDC motor-drive applications. These boards can be used for evaluating and measuring characteristic curves and for checking datasheet specifications. They must be used in a laboratory environment by trained power-electronic engineers adhering to safety requirements.

The EVAL-6ED2742S01QM1 evaluation kit consists of a three-phase inverter power board with a 160 V rated MOTIX™ 6ED2742S01Q (in a 5 x 5 VQFN-32 package) three-phase gate driver driving six 150 V rated OptiMOS™ MOSFETs BSC074N15NS5 (5 x 6 Super SO8). Integrated bootstrap diodes on the 6ED2742 supply the three external high-side charging bootstrap capacitors and support 100% duty-cycle operation by a trickle-charge pump. Protection features include undervoltage lockout, overcurrent protection with a configurable threshold, fault communication, and automatic fault clear. The output drivers feature a high-pulse current buffer stage designed for minimum driver cross-conduction. A current-sense operational amplifier (CSA) with a selectable gain is integrated between the VSS and COM.

The EVAL-2ED2742S01 evaluation kit consists of a three-phase inverter power board with a 160 V rated MOTIX 2ED2742S01Q half-bridge SOI gate driver driving six 150 V rated OptiMOS MOSFETs (BSC074N15NS5). The 2ED2742 with typical 1 A source and 2 A sink currents is available in a small footprint VSON10, 3 mm x 3 mm package for N-Channel MOSFETS. Integrated bootstrap diodes are used to supply the external high-side bootstrap capacitor. Protection features include undervoltage lockout on both VCC and VB pins.

The 6ED2742 and 2ED2742 are fully qualified for industrial applications according to the relevant tests of JEDEC78/20/22. Both boards have an M1 connector that is used to interface with the iMOTION™ modular application design kit (MADK) control card (EVAL-M1-101T).
