Image of FTDI's FT2233HPQ USB Bridge FTDI's FT2233HPQ is a high-speed USB device with a controller IC that fully supports the USB Type-C and PD standards enabling support for power negotiation with the ability to sink or source current to a USB host device. The USB bridge function delivers two independent channels that are compatible with the FT2232H dual high-speed USB to multipurpose UART/MPSSE solution.

PD policy engine using a 32-bit RISC controller with 8 kB data RAM and 48 kB code ROM
PD mode configuration through an external EEPROM
Option to use an external MCU controlling PD policy through the I²C interface
USB to dual serial ports with a variety of configurations
Entire USB protocol is handled on the chip (no USB specific firmware programming required)
USB 2.0 high-speed (480 Mb/s) and full-speed (12 Mb/s) compatible
Two multiprotocol synchronous serial engines (MPSSE) on channel A and channel B:
- Simplifies synchronous serial protocol (USB to JTAG, I²C, SPI, or bit-bang) design
Independent Baud rate generators
RS232/RS422/RS485 UART transfer data rate up to 12M baud (RS232 data rate is limited by an external level shifter)
FTDI’s royalty-free virtual com port (VCP) and direct (D2XX) drivers eliminate the requirement for USB driver development in most cases
Optional traffic TX/RX indicators can be added with LEDs
