The EPC91109 from EPC is a compact and efficient two-phase synchronous buck converter evaluation board. It is optimized for step-down conversion from 20 V to 36 V input to 12 V, 16 V, or 20 V output, making it ideal for USB Power Delivery (USB PD 3.1), laptops, battery-powered equipment, and portable electronics up to 180 W.
At the heart of the EPC91109 are four EPC2057 50 V eGaN® FETs, driven by the Analog Devices LTC7890 dual-phase controller. With a compact 24 mm × 24 mm power stage footprint and no need for a heatsink or forced-air cooling, this board demonstrates the performance and thermal advantages of GaN over silicon in high-density designs.
