SmartBond™ DA14531 BLE SoC
Renesas' DA14531, known as the SmartBond TINY, is the Bluetooth® low energy solution to power next-gen IoT devices
Renesas' SmartBond TINY, currently the world's smallest and lowest power Bluetooth 5.1 System-on-Chip (SoC), lowers the cost of adding Bluetooth low energy to a system, in high volume. It turns any device, even a disposable one, into a connected application, fueling the next growth wave of another billion IoT devices to become a reality.
SmartBond TINY consumes half the energy compared to its predecessor or any of the offerings from other leading manufacturers, which enables the use of tiny batteries. Internally working at 900 mV, it directly operates from environment-friendly, disposable silver oxide, zinc-air, or printable batteries as well as familiar alkaline coin cell batteries. Low hibernation and active power consumption ensure long operating and shelf life, even with the tiniest batteries.
The low system cost is achieved by the reduction in the size of SmartBond TINY and its high level of integration, which lead to extremely cost-effective systems. Available in a tiny 2.0 mm x 1.7 mm package, it is half the size of its predecessor or any offering from other leading manufacturers. The high level of integration of the SoC requires just six tiny external passives, a single clock source, and power to make a complete Bluetooth low energy system. All of which permit the DA14531 to enable tiny designs and to further shrink the size of the system thereby contributing to lower system costs. To lower the barrier of entry, SmartBond TINY will be available in an easy-to-use tiny module incorporating all the needed components and certifications, making the addition of Bluetooth low energy to any application a simple drop-in.
