pi-top came to the aid of many makers who wanted to turn their Raspberry Pi computer into a laptop. There was many hacks and projects by many users who built their own variation, however they were either too bulky or not very practical. pi-top launched a Indiegogo crowd funding campaign for their pi-top laptop, which users can build themselves.

pi-top laptop focussed on teaching users how to create real hardware and included a number of integrated lesson plans to teach and understand electronics, printed circuit boards and 3D printing. The Indiegogo campaign raised almost $200,000 and it was the most talked about maker product at that time.

The pi-top CEED launched in Indiegogo in December 2015 for a desktop solution, including a Raspberry Pi. The pi-top CEED also includes a 14” HD LCD screen, stand with wall mount options, front facing Raspberry PI access and a pre-loaded SD card with pi-topOS.

Fitted inside the case is a modular rail system that allows you to use any pi-top add-on board with the pi-top CEED by simply sliding the add-on board into the rail system.
