Building an Outstanding Supplier Marketing Center

The Supplier Marketing Center (SMC) is an individual supplier specific webpage that serves as a hub for product listings, marketing and an introduction to your company. Each SMC is interconnected with all available SKUs and mentions on the DigiKey website. Customers are also able to navigate easily to a supplier marketing center from the Manufacturers page.

The supplier marketing center is an excellent place to serve content to customers.  Here is a sampling of information that can be linked on a SMC webpage:

  • New Product Highlights
  • Product Training Modules
  • Spotlight Focuses and Featured Banners
  • Videos including Demo Videos and Webinars
  • Case studies
  • PDFs (Brochures, Catalogs, Articles, White Paper, Reference Design)
  • Press Releases
  • Tools, Services and Support
  • Custom Part Number Builders

Suppliers are provided a generic supplier marketing center page when they initially join the line card but are welcome to influence their page with visual branding and content. “We recommend to exercise quality over quantity to make sure all imagery is clear and in focus,” recommends Joey Rasmussen, a supervisor for Content Administration at DigiKey. Imagery makes for a great first and memorable impression and can help visually distinguish your brand from other suppliers.

Kelly Carriere, a supervisor in the Content Administration team, states that unique content is key when creating a page that focuses on Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Text copied directly from another source on the internet will cancel out search results, thereby resulting in reduced customer web traffic.

Updated content is another aspect of a successful supplier marketing center. New content will help capture audiences and encourage them to continue to return. Refreshing information on the supplier marketing center every month or two is recommended to provide maximum value to returning visitors.

The path for suppliers to make SMC adjustments depends on their DigiKey distribution program. Marketplace and Fulfilled by DigiKey (FBD) suppliers are able to make adjustments through the Supplier Center portal. All other suppliers can reach out to their DigiKey product manager via email with requested changes.
