Image of u-blox's NORA-W2 Module u-blox's NORA-W2 Amazon Web Services (AWS) ExpressLink series of standalone multi-radio modules deliver Wi-Fi 4 connectivity as well as Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) 5 connectivity (including Bluetooth long-range) and incorporate AWS IoT ExpressLink with pre-provisioned AWS connectivity. It is available with an antenna pin (NORA-W251AWS) or a printed circuit board (PCB) antenna (NORA-W256AWS). The evaluation kit for NORA-W256AWS (USB-NORA-W256AWS) comes with AWS IoT ExpressLink and an internal PCB antenna.

The NORA-W2 series is comprised of stand-alone multi-radio modules that integrate a powerful 32-bit dual-core microcontroller unit (MCU) and a radio for wireless communication. The radio supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and Bluetooth LE 5.

The embedded AWS IoT ExpressLink-compliant software includes secured certificates that are pre-flashed in the modules. This allows the module to provide out-of-the-box connectivity with AWS with no effort from the customer. It also supports secure over-the-air (OTA) updates of both the module firmware and the host application.

Control and data communication is done via the module with stateless AT commands over a serial interface. Fleet management, monitoring, and security auditing are supported by AWS IoT Device Management and AWS IoT Device Defender.

The small size and embedded security capabilities make NORA-W2 ideal for critical IoT applications where security is important. It is designed with a secure boot which ensures the module boots up only in the presence of authenticated software. The NORA-W2 series is globally certified, reducing time-to-market for the end-product. To ensure operation in harsh industrial environments, the modules are professional-grade and qualified according to u-blox's qualification policy, based on AEC-Q104, and support a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
