TCR3U Series LDO Regulators
Toshiba's regulators help to improve battery life in mobile devices by offering very low bias current
Toshiba’s TCR3U series reduces the bias current which is required to operate LDO regulators at no-load compared with existing products. In addition, these devices have a bypass mode which ensures no sudden increase in bias current when input voltage drops below the preset output voltage level. This is a common problem in most typical LDOs. When batteries start depleting, an LDO’s input voltage could drop below the preset output voltage, which would then cause consumption to increase. TCR3U series’ bypass mode prevents this from happening.
While the battery portion of a design is key for improving a product’s battery life, the current consumption of a design is also quite important. Common sub-blocks such as sensing and data communication are typically current-hungry. Toshiba’s low bias current LDOs help reduce the passive drain that occurs during standby periods.
