TCKE9 Series eFuse ICs

Toshiba’s TCKE9 series offers current limiting and voltage clamp function to protect circuits against external overcurrent and overvoltage conditions. Unlike standard chip or glass fuses, the eFuse IC is a repeatable protection device that can clamp temporary transients or quickly shut down in extreme cases.

This series functions by utilizing over temperature protection and short-circuit protection, so that when overcurrent or overvoltage is applied, the device will heat up and shut down. Short-circuit protection will trigger in 2 µs if the current exceeds the user-set current limit by at least 1.6 times.

TCKE9 series offers simpler circuit designs with fewer components and a smaller area than a protection circuit created with discrete parts. Other features include a flag pin for monitoring purposes, slew rate control, and settable UVLO.

Operating voltages are preset and are focused on 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, and 20 V operation. Each voltage will offer two versions – an auto-retry type that allows the eFuse to automatically reset itself, and a latched type that is recovered by manually pulling the enable low and bringing it high.

In addition, the lineup also offers two types of products (for 3.3 V, 5 V, and auto-retry) that have a high-speed output discharge function. All TCKE9 eFuses are housed in 2 mm x 2 mm WSON8 packaging.
