Texas Instruments' transceiver is suitable for asynchronous data transmission and offers ±8 kV IEC ESD protection
Texas Instruments' THVD1520 is a robust half-duplex RS-485 transceiver that is designed for industrial applications. The bus pins are immune to high levels of IEC contact discharge ESD events, eliminating the need for additional system-level protection components.
This device operates from a single 5 V supply. The wide common-mode voltage range and low input leakage on the bus pins make the THVD1520 suitable for multi-point applications over long cable runs. The THVD1520 is available in the industry-standard 8-pin SOIC package for drop-in compatibility. This transceiver offers an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
