TDK-Lambda’s DRB120-3, DRB240-3, DRB480-3, and DRB960-3 series support the growing trend for mid-range 3-phase input DIN power supplies for industrial and process control applications. The series offers an excellent balance between functionality and price, combining reliability and compact dimensions with energy saving efficiencies of up to 96.3%. Conservatively rated electrolytic capacitor temperatures offer improved field lifetimes of typically ten years. Available in four power levels, 120 W, 240 W, 480 W, and 960 W, the series provides a choice of 12 V, 24 V, 48 V, or 72 V outputs. All models have boost (peak) power ratings to handle capacitive loading. A low energy inrush current level avoids nuisance tripping of circuit breakers. Units can be connected in parallel to provide more power or for redundant applications. They offer DC Good relay, remote on/off, and a choice of models with either screw or push-in wire terminals for automated and robotic wiring.
The DRB models are designed for a broad range of applications, including industrial machinery and systems, as well as conventional switch cabinets and communications equipment.
The units have a wide input range of 350 VAC to 575 VAC. They are housed in a rugged metal enclosure with dimensions of 55 mm (width) x 129 mm (height) x 138.2 mm (depth) for the 120 W/240 W, 65 mm (width) x 129 mm (height) x 159.3 mm (depth) for the 480 W models and 100 mm (width) x 129 mm (height) x 171.9 mm (depth) for the 960 W. This saves space on the DIN rail for other components and reduces cost. A choice of screw terminals or push-in connectors are available for the input and output wiring. The DRB models have a high operating efficiency of up to 96.3% and a low standby power consumption of <2.3 W when using the remote on-off function (inhibit). This reduces energy usage and contributes to a lower CO2 footprint of the entire system. Lower losses also reduce internal heating inside the power supplies, preventing electrolytic capacitor dry-out for long field life.
For higher power or redundant systems, the front panel DIP switch enables droop mode current sharing for parallel operation. The DRB series has a wide adjustment range of 11.4 V to 15 V (12 V nominal), 22.5 V to 29 V (24 V nominal), 45 V to 56 V (48 V nominal), and 70 V to 85 V (72 V nominal) to allow compensation for cable drops, ORing FETs or setting to non-standard output voltages. In addition to two LED indicators, a DC OK relay contact is available for remote monitoring. Remote on/off is possible by applying an external voltage to the inhibit relay contact.
Input to output isolation is 3510 VAC, input to ground 2210 VAC and output to ground is 1390 VAC. The DRB models are convection cooled and rated for operation in -25°C to +70°C ambient temperatures with derating above +55°C.
The units are certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1, 61010-1, and 61010-2-201 and are CE/UKCA marked to the low voltage, EMC, and RoHS directives. They meet EN 55011-B and CISPR11-B radiated and conducted emissions. The series also complies with EN 61000-3-2 (Class A) harmonic currents and IEC/EN 61000-6-2 immunity standards.
