SC-Cut Quartz Crystal Resonators

Taitien’s SC-cut, or stress-compensated, crystals are the optimal choice for applications using oven controlled crystal oscillators and high-temperature oscillators due to their low sensitivity to mechanical and thermal stress and vibration.

Taitien’s high-precision SC-cut quartz crystal resonators leverage the company’s in-house produced high-Q SC-cut wafer design. They are ideal for applications sensitive to transient thermal compensation, stress compensation, and high drive levels. In addition, Taitien’s SC-cut crystals have a higher C0/C1 capacitance ratio, so the △ƒ caused by the change of oscillator reactance is relatively small. As such, SC-cut crystals are an excellent solution for high-speed target tracking and low-noise oscillators required in space communication systems due to the need for quick start-up in environments with strong radiation, strong vibration, and drastic temperature changes.

• Excellent power-on characteristics: The thermal overshoot of a SC-cut resonator is approximately two orders of magnitude smaller than an the AT-cut crystal; therefore, the SC-cut product can quickly reach its frequency stability after powering up. In general, the stability can achieve 2×10⁹ 6 minutes after powering
• Low aging: Both the stress effect of the SC-cut resonator, and the aging caused by stress relaxation is relatively small. The aging rate can reach 10¹¹/d
• Outstanding short-term frequency stability: With an increase in drive level, the signal-to-noise ratio relative to the white noise is increased and allows for far-end phase noise improvement. The highest level that can be reached is -160 dBc/Hz to -170 dBc/Hz, and a maximum of -130 dBc/Hz to -140 dBc/Hz close-in phase noise at 10 Hz
