ST25R210 NFC Reader

The STMicroelectronics ST25R210 is a versatile near field communication (NFC) device that supports NFC initiator, NFC target, NFC reader, and NFC card emulation modes. Its high output power of up to 1.6 W enables easy integration into designs that use small antennas. The device delivers excellent read-range performance and incorporates enhanced low-power card detection (LPCD), which extends detection distance during inductive wake-up operation. In this low-power mode, the system can sense when NFC tags or cards are brought near or removed. An integrated RC oscillator and programmable timer allow the device to automatically scan for cards or other NFC-enabled devices, such as smartwatches or smartphones, while in wake-up mode.

The ST25R210 offers high sensitivity, further strengthened by STMicroelectronics noise suppression receiver (NSR) technology, ensuring reliable communication even in electrically noisy environments. It includes an advanced analog front end (AFE) and a highly integrated data-framing system supporting NFC-A/B (ISO14443A/B) with higher bit rates, NFC-F (FeliCa™), NFC-V (ISO15693) up to 212 kbps, as well as NFC-A and NFC-F for card emulation applications.
