UTL Series 5 Position Connectors for Field Installation

Souriau's UTL series five position connector plugs have been designed to be quickly installed in the field with only a screw driver. The five position UTL plugs have screw termination contacts and no special tooling is required for installation. UTL five position connectors are also available with crimp contacts for more conventional industrial applications. When mated, the plug and receptacle ensure IP68 / IP69K ingress protection and are resistant to high-pressure water jets. The five position UTL connectors are designed to withstand 1,000 mating cycles and a temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. Complementary with the other UTL connectors, this range is perfectly suited to industrial applications as well as mobile equipment.

The five position UTL plugs feature a simple to use stainless steel latch coupling system. With only one finger, connectors are mated with an audible click and are simply unmated by simultaneously pressing the latch and pulling on the plug. The “key hole” shape of the coupling system allows for blind mating in tight spaces or dark conditions and mechanical discriminations allow easy mating to avoid connector damage. The push-pull lock and thermoplastic construction of the plugs and receptacles ensure safety for users.

The screw termination contacts comply with DMX and DALI protocols as well as with the RS-485 standard to ensure quality data transfers and enable equipment to be remotely controlled. The contacts are fitted with captive screws to retain wires in the crimp barrel, withstand currents of up to 16 A, and accommodate flexible wires with cross-sectional areas of 1.5 mm² to 2.5 mm² (from 18 AWG to 14 AWG).
