RT5716 Ultra-Small High-Efficiency Step-Down Converters

Richtek RT5716 provides the ultra-small package solution for compact applications, greatly reducing the area of PCB layout. This ultra-small chip power solution is available in a 1.04 mm x 0.69 mm WCSP package. With 4 MHz switching frequency, the RT5716 has an overall circuit design of only 4.65 mm², saving 38% of PCB layout area compared to the previous generation of Richtek products.

Richtek RT5716 features include high switching frequency, ultra-low quiescent current, wide input voltage, selectable output range voltage range, multiple operating modes (PSM/FPWM mode), and robust protection mechanisms [overcurrent protection (OCP), overtemperature protection (OTP), undervoltage lockout (UVLO)].

RT5716 adopts a sophisticated ripple-based constant-on-time (RBCOT) control, enabling a superior load/line transient response and optimizing performance across varying loads and output capacitors.

With an input voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V, the converters are suited for battery-powered applications, offering 16 selectable output voltage levels through simple resistor connections.
